Coaching Information

Important: Coaches' Meeting

Coaches, please plan to attend a meeting at North Mankato Fire Station # 2 (1825 Howard Drive) on Wednesday, July 28th, at 6:30PM.

Interested in Coaching for MNMYF?

Thank you for your interest! In order to become a MNMYF coach, whether you intend to be a head coach or an assistant/sideline coach, there are two steps.

First, complete the Volunteer Coach Application (which includes consenting to a background check) by following the directions on the bottom left.

Second, obtain (or renew!) USA Football Certification by following the directions on the bottom right. Certifications are good for 3 years. If you have an active certification, you can send a copy to Neil instead of taking the certification again.

Once you have passed both of these hurdles, you will be contacted about your position as a MNMYF Coach!

Volunteer Coach Application

The fillable PDF form must be completed in its entirety, including authorization to perform a voluntary background check, before an applicant may be considered for a coaching position.

Download the PDF, fill out the application, and then email the form to aprilv@northmankato.com

Certification

To help ensure the safety and security of every child in the program, MNMYF is requiring USA Football certification for all those who wish to participate in a coaching capacity, whether head coach, sideline coach, or substitute coach.

Mankato North Mankato Youth Football wishes to thank the Minnesota Vikings for covering all USA Football certification fees! Coaches need only enter the promo code SKOLVIKINGS21 to have the Vikings cover the $15 certification fee.

Coaches can access the certification by following the steps below.

  • Go to USA Football Certification
  • Click on "Get Certified"
  • Type in promo code: SKOLVIKINGS21
  • Finalize purchase
  • Launch Certification

The Youth Coach Certification is currently a four-hour course, and will cover the following topics.  The recertification quiz will take 30-45 minutes.

  • Health and Safety
  • Coaching 101 (one time only)
  • Anti-Abuse Training (every other year)
  • Football Development Model
  • Youth Contact (for contact coaches only)

If you have any questions about certification, please contact Mike at 630-433-6697 or email mcuzzone@usafootball.com.
